Catch-up Scheduling for Childhood Vaccination
نویسنده
چکیده
In this report, we outline the development of the core optimization technology used within a decision support tool to help providers and caretakers in constructing catchup schedules for childhood immunization. These schedules ensure that a child continues to receive timely coverage against vaccine preventable diseases in the likely event that one or more doses have been delayed. We develop a Dynamic Programming algorithm that exploits the typical size and structure of the problem to construct optimized schedules at almost the click of a button. In using an optimization based algorithm, our approach is unique not only in methodology but also in the information, strategy and advice we can offer to the user. The tool is being advocated by both the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) as a means of encouraging caretakers and providers to take a more proactive role in ensuring timely vaccination coverage for children, as well as ensuring the accuracy and quality of a catch-up regime.

متن کاملExplaining variation in the uptake of HPV vaccination in England
BACKGROUND In England, two national programmes of HPV vaccination for girls have been instituted, a routine programme for 12- and 13-year-olds and a catch-up programme for 17- and 18-year-olds. Uptake rates across the country have been far from uniform, and this research sought to identify factors explaining the variation in uptake by locality. METHODS An association between uptake, deprivati...

This study explores the effects of three different 2-dose varicella zoster virus (VZV) vaccination strategies in Switzerland. The EVITA model was used to assess clinical benefits and costs of strategies (1) vaccination of 11-15 year old adolescents with a negative or uncertain history for chickenpox, (2) universal vaccination of toddlers at age 1 to 2 years, and (3) strategy 2 plus catch-up vac...

UNLABELLED Liver disease and liver cancer associated with childhood-acquired chronic hepatitis B are leading causes of death among adults in China. Despite expanded newborn hepatitis B vaccination programs, approximately 20% of children under age 5 years and 40% of children aged 5 to 19 years remain unprotected from hepatitis B. Although immunizing them will be beneficial, no studies have exami...

BACKGROUND In June 2005, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommended the newly licensed quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine for routine use among all US children aged 11 years. A 1-time catch-up vaccination campaign for children and adolescents aged 11-17 years, followed by routine annual immunization of each child aged 11 years, could generate immediate herd immunity ...
